Antique Full Leather Boswell – Life of Samuel Johnson – Gilt Victorian Binding

A beautiful Victorian full-leather prize binding of Boswell’s Life of Johnson, published 1890 by John Murray, London. Dark blue polished calf with a gilt-tooled spine, red title label, gilt school crest to the boards, and marbled endpapers and page edges. Former school prize copy with a dated inscription. Measures approx. 24 cm tall. Condition: Good for Age. Binding is solid and secure. Pages are generally clean for age. There is surface age wear to the leather (light rubbing to edges and mild wear to spine ends), with gentle toning and occasional light foxing towards the last few pages. Overall, generally a lovely copy and looks stunning on the shelf if you’re not in the mood for a bit of heavy reading! Happy to provide extra photos if needed.
